Signal Processing Applications Group (SPAG)
GAPS
Structure: Research Groups
The members of the group carry out their research in the field of digital signal processing and its applications, more specifically in the following lines of research:
- Digital radiocommunications
- Broadband systems
- Signal analysis
- Man/Machine interfaces
- Voice recognition
- Voice synthesis
- Audio signal processing
- Audio Signal Processing
- Broadband systems
- Digital Radiocomunicacones
- HMI
- Signal Analysis
- Speech Synthesis
- Voice Recognition
The group has been doing significant work in numerous fields of signal processing since 1998, including radiocommunications, cable, voice and audio communications, sensors and security. A particular highlight is the work on HF, where it is currently one of the most important groups at national level.
Other members of the group focus on developing software tools (programs) and hardware (devices) that could be useful as a support for the Educators working in the field of Special Education. Two of them stand out: "Aprendiendo" and "Emo", both of which are free-of-charge and freely accessible.
Furthermore, within another of their lines of research, they have developed a tool (Apneapp) enabling detection of patients with sleep apnea using voice analysis, which, in 2014, received the IDEA2 Madrid award from the "Madrid/MIT M Vision" consortium.
All this work has given rise to numerous publications in journals, conferences and contracts with companies. In addition, in the last 5 years, the group has taken part in 8 European projects and 8 competitive scientific projects in Spain.
