Our group has extensive experience in R&I in the following subjects:
- Antenna Design, Construction and measuring for all kinds of uses (Land-based communications, satellite communications, and radar, etc.)
- Analysis and Assessment of complex systems' Electromagnetic Compatibility (compatibility in ships and EMI, etc.)
- Radio Frequency Systems Design, construction and Measurement (Low Level Noise Amplifiers, Mixers, Oscillators, passive components, etc.) from UHF to Terahertz.
-
Simulation-based Radiocommunications Systems and Networks Analysis and Design (Systems via Satellite, Mobile Communications Systems, Digital TV Broadcasting Networks)
Our group is working on the following lines of research:
- RF passive antenna and parts design.
- RF active antenna and parts design.
- Antenna and radio frequency circuit measurements.
- Array signal processing.
- Communications systems design, simulation and optimisation.
- Numerical methods applied to electromagnetism.

The Radiation Group manages the Antenna Testing and Approval Laboratory at the UPM, which has the capacity to measure antennas ranging from UHF to 110 GHz and collaborates with the most important companies in the sector in Europe. The laboratory is certified under the ISO17025 standard. It has also designed far field and near field antenna measuring systems.
The Radiation Group has designed or measured antennas for satellites such as Hispasat, Astra, Galileo, Venus Express, Mars Express, Solar Orbiter, Bepi Colombo and Herschel, amongst others.
The Radiation Group has designed antennas and amplifiers for the Yebes Astronomy Observatory.
The Radiation Group has worked with HISPASAT, Iberdrola and other providers, simulating innovative communications systems.
