Quantum Information and Computing Research Group (GIICC)

The group has installed the first quantum key distribution point-to-point link in the country, jointly with Telefónica R&D. We have constructed a QKD network prototype to research QKD integration into standard and commercial optical communications networks. The prototype proposes the separation of quantum and classic channels on the same fibre optic, and routing using a common infrastructure with standard equipment. The results of this line of research have given rise to several patents.

Members of the group have proposed innovative methods for error correction in QKD (efficient, high speed information reconciliation) that have given rise to a patent, registration of a software program, and several collaborations with businesses and universities internationally.

We have taken part in important research projects, in Spain and internationally, and we could point out the CENIT Segur@ and QUITEMAD projects, and the Human Brain Project we are currently taking part in.
