We are a group of ten people ¿researchers, technical staff, administrative staff and trainee research staff¿ working on R&I in Health and Performance. We work in the Physiology of Exercise Laboratory at the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sports Sciences. We are also members of two clusters at the Moncloa IEC: "Agrifood and Health" and "Innovative Medicine".

Physiology of Exercise Laboratory Research Group
LFE Research Group
Structure: Research Groups
Email: Infrastructures:
The group's members carry out their work by working on the following lines of research:
- Training injuries.
- Genetic influences on the body's response and adaptation to exercise and training.
- Training with weights in particular groups.
- Cardiovascular control with physical exercise programmes.
- Body response during long exercise times.
- Nutrition and Physical Activity Programmes for treating Obesity.
- Body response during long-term efforts
- Cardiorespiratory response to exercise and acid-base status
- Cardiovascular control through exercise programs.
- Effects of training on performance and health in athletes and special populations. Hypoxia training
- Gene influences over the exercise response and training adaptations
- Individualization of Physical Activity
- Influence of the menstrual cycle, oral contraceptives and menopause in female athletes: iron metabolism and muscle damage
- Mathematical models for the prediction of weight loss
- Nutrition and physical activity programs for the treatment of obesity. Energy expenditure in physical activity
- Physical Activity Energy Cost
- Transport of substrates during exercise (lactate and falty acid metabolism)
- Weight training in special populations
Within the group's activities, it is worth pointing out the PRONAF research project (Nutrition and Physical Activity Programmes for treating excess weight and obesity) which we carried out for five years (2007-2011). The research had a large team of researchers, doctors, nutritionists, trainers and professionals who studied the different variables influencing body weight loss in more than 250 volunteers who took part in the research. This gave rise to the PRONAF Centre, a technology-based business with the main mission of re-designing the models and programmes for treating excess weight and obesity using acquired know-how, developing new, advanced formulas to predict weight loss, creating valid genetic profiles and nutritional and training control by integrating new lines of work.
We are highly active in our group in everything to do with broadcasting our work to society. This is a task we do on various social networks ¿ Twitter and Facebook ¿ and a Blog, which you can visit by clicking on the icons.
