The Multimedia and Acoustics Applications research group (GAMMA) is a part of the Software Technologies and Multimedia Systems for Sustainability Research Group (CITSEM). Its members are inter-disciplinary, with 9 professors (8 doctorates) specialising in a variety of fields, such as signal processing, acoustics, company management and linguistics applied to science and technology. It also has several researchers under contract and numerous students carrying out theses, collaboration grants, external internships, and end of masters and end of degree projects. Professor Doctor Víctor José Osma Ruiz is the director.

Quality Education
Our lines of research currently focus on the following:
- Gamification: design and development of serious games for use in educational and therapeutical environments.
- Smart natural interfaces for people with physical disabilities ( https://naturalinterfaces.etsist.upm.es/ ): improvement to the feeling of immersion in serious video games. Designing applications that adapt to patients in real time to optimise the exercises' effectiveness.
- Medical image processing: segmentation and classification of anatomical structures with advanced digital image processing methods.
- Virtual acoustics: recreation of acoustic environments by calculating the acoustic impulse response of the venue.
- Psychoacoustics: spatial localisation of sound sources. Simulation of the auditory system from the point of view of spatial perception.
- Voice signal processing: voice recognition, synthesis and analysis for medical applications.
- Knowledge management: knowledge management techniques, tools and modelling for skills development in organisations.
- Innovation in the English teaching/learning process.
