We are a group of more than 25 people, with researchers, technical staff, administrative staff and trainee researchers, and have been working in the field of image processing in the Signals, Systems and Radiocommunications Department at the HTS for Telecommunications Engineers for more than 30 years.

Structure: Research Groups
We do R&I on digital image processing theory, methods and applications, mainly directed at understanding and analysis. We deal with specific subjects relating to images, as well as complete systems where image processing is crucially important.
Our lines of research can be summarised as follows:

Apart from two laboratories in the HTS for Telecommunications Engineers, we have a Three-Dimensional Television Environment (Dem-3DTV) at the Technology Innovation Support Centre (CAIT-UPM) in the Montegancedo Campus of Excellence. The space is equipped with an extensive infrastructure to support research, development and testing of 3DTV equipment and, at the same time, offer a service demonstrating the research results and integration of technologies aimed at the acquisition, analysis, compression, distribution and visualisation of audiovisual content with depth perception.
From the start, Dem-3DTV was conceived as an environment for innovation, experimentation and co-creation, where researchers, businesses, standards bodies and public institutions could seek new solutions, new products or new services together, actively involving the real user in the research processes and fostering cooperation.
The Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, via the public business entity Red.es, and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid have set up a Digital Content Production and Experimentation Centre within the Dem-3DTV, for the purpose of creating educational programmes for students and professionals in the sector.
