Building and Environmental Technology
Structure: Research Groups
We do R&I on matters relating to the works execution process and construction materials and systems for building. We are also studying waste treatment and management, along with its recycling and feasibility as an alternative raw material for new construction materials.
Specifically, our lines of research are as follows:
- Building process management
- Building environmental impact. Waste assessment
- Design and innovation in new materials and construction systems.
- Innovation in construction systems for building renovations.
- Energy efficiency and indoor air quality in buildings

We have a construction materials laboratory, which has equipment and machinery to carry out a significant number of trials and tests on works¿materials, including concrete, mortar and paste, ceramics and cement. We also have a physics laboratory, where trials can be carried out on the thermal behaviour of materials, and a simulation laboratory, where energy simulations and modelling and simulation can be carried out.
Our research has been funded by European, national and private projects, while at the same time generating numerous patents and publications in the majority of the related media, which is due to active participation in different scientific fields.
We have organised many national and international workshops, forums and conferences, amongst which the International Congress on Construction and Building Research (COINVEDI) stands out, with the aim of promoting the exchange of ideas amongst the business, technical and scientific communities representing R&I in the building process in Spain.
