Biodiversity and conservation of plant genetic resources

Our lines of research are as follows:

1) Plant Germplasm banks: A worldwide benchmark in conversing plant genetic resources from the Brassicaceae family and endemic species from the Iberian peninsula, Balearic Islands and Macaronesian region.

2) Application of omics technology to research Biodiversity: get to know about the adaptive responses from plants to abiotic stress mediated by the cell wall.

3) Molecular profiling of plant genetic resources: to identify them and understand their diversity.

4) Agronomic and morphological assessment of plant genetic resources: studying the interaction of crops with their environment.

5) Ecogeographic profiling of plant genetic resources: identifying materials of interest in improvement programmes.

6) Conservation in vitro and cryoconservation of plant germplasm.

7) Micro-propagation, sanitation and improvement using in vitro growing techniques.

8) Conservation of wild relatives of cultivated plants and wild plants for food use: conservation in situ and ex situ of their genetic diversity.

9) Conservation and ecology of plant species and communities: included on red lists, or because they are representative.
