The Automata and Robotics Centre (CAR) is a joint research centre between the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). It was founded in November 2009.
Its main objective is to develop research in the fields of Control Engineering, Artificial Perception and Robotics.
CAR's research activity is articulated through participation in national and international competitive programmes, as well as through bilateral and multilateral research contracts. In addition, applied research is carried out through research and funding agreements with industry. CAR's research activity is strategically linked to postgraduate training at UPM, which includes a Master and a PhD in Automation and Robotics.
