Microscopy
Using this equipment, it is possible to make thin sections of biological specimens or materials used in research and industry, e.g. for microscopic analysis of samples. The work can be done automatically or manually and it can be adapted to different samples. It is controlled by means of an ergonomic panel that is independent of the instrument. It includes a holder for disposable steel blades and diamond blades. The minimum thickness of the sections is 0.5 ¿m. It has a built-in microscope holder.
It is currently used in the microscopy service to cut paraffin blocks and obtain sections of biological samples, in order to submit them to microscopic analysis. It has different kinds of sample holders for working with specimens embedded in paraffin wax or resin.
