The infrastructure is made up of electrophoretic systems, a microplate reader and spectrophotometers.
Health, Biotechnology, Food security, Pharmaceutical industry, Diagnostic biomarkers.
This versatile infrastructure has many potential uses based on carrying out immunotests. First, it allows proteins to be separated in complex mixtures, in order to determine the protein profile of the sample. It also allows target protein detection and quantification tests to be carried out on samples of various kinds.
Determining the allergenic content of food samples of various kinds (identification and relative quantification of the different allergens in the sample). Identification and quantification of diagnostic biomarkers in human liquid biopsies (serum, saliva), such as IgE antibodies (allergy diagnosis) or IgG and IgM antibodies (COVID-19 diagnosis). Comparative analyses of the content of samples of a similar nature, by means of inhibition tests (analysis of the effect of different forms of processing in foods, comparison of formulations for medical and pharmaceutical use, etc.).
