The device can be used to measure molecule and particle size from 0.3 to 10 ¿m. It also measures the zeta potential of particles and molecules using electrophoretic light scattering (ELS), indicating the stability of the sample and/or its propensity to aggregate. In addition, it has an optical filter wheel that includes a fluorescence filter, making it possible to measure fluorescent samples without compromising the system¿s sensitivity. It also includes polarisation filters (horizontal and vertical) for depolarised dynamic light scattering (DDLS) measurements.
Nanoparticles, microparticles, biomedicine, bionanotechnology, functionalisation.
Using this equipment, it is possible to measure the size of colloidal dispersions of nanoparticles and microparticles of different kinds (polymeric, metallic, semiconducting, etc.). It can also measure the zeta potential of colloidal dispersions and molecular weight.
The equipment is currently used to measure the sizes and dispersion of metallic, polymeric and superparamagnetic nanoparticles; to measure the zeta potential of surface functionalised nanoparticles, and to assess the presence of extracellular vesicles in cell cultures.
