Presentation

The Master's Degree in Agricultural Engineering offers complete training and knowledge in the scientific, technical, and economic aspects of agriculture, livestock, food, natural resources, and related activities. It provides graduates with the attributions of the chartered profession of Agricultural Engineering in Spain. This Master's Degree can be accessed directly from the Bachelor’s Degrees in Agricultural Engineering, Food Engineering and Agro-environmental Engineering, all of which are taught at the UPM, or from any other equivalent degree through other Universities. It is also possible to access trough other engineering degrees with the completion of complementary training. The syllabus of the degree comprises a total teaching load of 120 ECTS: 72 in compulsory subjects, 36 electives and 12 in the Master's Final Project. The compulsory subjects include 62 ECTS from the modules defined in Order CIN/325 2009: Technology and Planning of the Rural Environment, Technology of Plant and Animal Production, Technology of Agri-food Industries and Management and Organisation of Agri-food Companies, in addition to 10 common ECTS of introduction to research and general training in project engineering. To facilitate the formation of a more specialised curriculum, students must take 36 optional ECTS from a diversified offer. Students can complete the 36 optional ECTS within mobility programmes in other national or foreign universities. In any case, students will be able to obtain up to 12 optional ECTS through external internships. The Master's syllabus is completed with the Master's Final Project, which consists of the completion, presentation and defence before a university board of an original work carried out individually, consisting of a comprehensive Agricultural Engineering technical project of a professional nature in which the competencies acquired in the degree are synthesised.
