The PhD program in Advanced Architectural Design accumulates an experience of more than 30 years of history and is focused on the development of research that advances the knowledge of the architectural project understood in a broad sense: from the architectural scale to the urban and constructive scales, from the historical dimension to the operative condition, as a technique of spatial organization that determines and modifies cultural and social conditions and, at the same time, is conditioned by them. The area of knowledge of the program is based on the crossing of several disciplines such as project theory, architectural history, cultural studies, social sciences or applied technology. The program is aimed at graduates who have acquired complementary postgraduate training in the field of scientific research. Direct entry to the program is through the Master's Degree in Advanced Architectural Projects of the ETSAM-UPM or any other equivalent (non-professional) research master's degree. For other access profiles, admission is conditioned to the completion of training complements offered by the program itself.
