Trade in food and other agricultural commodities are growing, internationally but also domestically. As a result of increasing pressure on freshwater resources in many parts of the world and a growing number of people outside the agricultural sector, food security presumes trade, including imports. However, any kind of trade presumes purchasing power and/or strategic and political bargaining power. The pros and the cons of food trade in relation to water need to be further explored. | |
