Unified GIS database for biomass supply and demand estimation in Asturias (Northern Spain) following WISDOM methodology ? useful and flexible management and planning tool. For collection and bundling of eucalypts residues, the most common logging system in Asturias, the cutting system with shears working at standard bundling pressure was the most effective technology. Productivity equations to estimate productivity and cost of bundles forwarding make possible planning and operational logistics prior to harvesting. The more capable and powerful machine was more efficient and less costly . The use of GIS methods as tools combining productivity and costs including the LCA, allows to select routes minimizing costs and impacts. Bundles road transport is the most relevant supply phase regarding cost and emissions; Bundles moisture plays also an important role. | |
