Compliance of air quality standards is usually evaluated through conventional air quality monitoring networks. However, the representativeness of such measurements in terms of population exposure is unclear, making it difficult to assess health impacts and limiting the information provided to the population regarding air quality in their city. This study reports on recent research activities within the TECNAIRE?CM research project to develop new methodologies that can provide representative information of population exposure from the urban scale to the street scale. Two case studies in Madrid (Spain) to assess urban population exposure are discussed. | |
